Retreats

In the midst of our busy lives, it is important to take time apart with God. Like any relationship, our relationship with God is deepened and enriched by some focused, devoted time.

The HoTCO chapter maintains a full offering of retreats ranging from half-day "dips into silence," to two-day commuter retreats where you can sleep at home, to 5 and 10-day residential retreats held at the beautiful Cedarbrake Renewal Center. (A number of the photos used on this website were taken at Cedarbrake.)

The following half-day and one-day retreats are held at The Church of Conscious Harmony. Register in person between 8:30-8:50am retreat day.

At the one-day retreats we ask for a $15 suggested Love offering. However, everyone is welcome to come, even if you can't afford the offering. Some retreats are potluck/bring a dish to share for lunch and some are bring a brown bag.

A new retreat format for those who can't take a 5-day or 10-day retreat this year. These retreats are held at The Church of Conscious Harmony. Retreatants sleep at home and return the next day. Some retreats may be combined with a one or half day retreat listed above, to create a 3-day centering prayer retreat experience.

A spiritual practice of "Letting Go" of feelings, emotions, thoughts and body sensations into the present moment during the ordinary routines of daily life. Jul 6-15	10	Advanced - led by Mary Anne Best. A time apart to listen, reflect, be still and move into your inmost being and discover within the Mystery of the Divine. Over two years in the making, the new DVD series Heartfulness: Transformation in Christ with Fr. Thomas Keating and Dr. Betty Sue Flowers will be shown in its entirety, along with periods of silence, solitude, reflection and wisdom-sharing. Eucharist and Lectio Divina will be offered.	$790	$100

All of our retreats are Centering Prayer retreats. Centering Prayer retreats are for anyone who has completed the Introduction to Centering Prayer workshop or who otherwise has a Centering Prayer practice.

Intensive Centering Prayer retreats are for people who have an established 6+ month Centering Prayer practice, and who feel a longing to deepen their relationship with God through an extended time of silence and prayer. It is not necessary to have attended shorter-duration retreats before attending a 7-day or 10-day intensive.

Our intensive retreats are structured for people who have not formerly completed a 10-day retreat, or for those who wish to deepen or renew their understanding of Fr. Keating's model of the Spiritual Journey. In addition to the periods of Centering Prayer, retreatants will view and discuss some of Fr. Keating's Spiritual Journey video tapes each day.

Advanced Centering Prayer retreats are for people who have formerly completed a 10-day intensive retreat, and wish to study Fr. Keating's advanced video tapes while on retreat. This is a wonderful way to be exposed to Fr. Keating's most recent teachings.

Post intensive retreats are for people who have cultivated a taste for silence and are looking for increased periods of Centering Prayer, silence and solitude while on retreat. Post intensive applicants must have formerly completed a 10-day intensive retreat.

A deposit is required to register for & reserve a space at any retreat. Payment in full is required 30 days prior to the retreat. Cancellations within 30 days of the retreat will incur a $25 administrative charge.

Rooms will be double occupancy as a general rule. If single rooms are available at the time of the retreat, they will be made available, at extra cost, to post intensive retreatants and then others on a first-to-register and request a single room basis.
